Ronald (Ron) Brent Vaughn Sr., 87 of Fresno, CA passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024. Ron was born to Basil and Marjorie Vaughn in Porterville, CA. Ron spent his formative years in Gustine, California where he excelled and lettered in multiple sports.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 66+ years, Merle (Wierman) Vaughn and his six children, Vicki (Bob) Anderson, Deborah (Dale) Stanton, Suzanne (Bob) Harandi, Reneé (Kevin) Smart, Ron (Judy) Vaughn, and Gregory (Lauri) Vaughn, 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Ron was pre-deceased by his parents, Basil and Marjorie and a brother, Claire, who drowned at a young age.

Ron served in the US Navy from 1954-1957 during the Korean War where he was actively involved in Operation Redwing which involved testing of atomic weapons and devices. Ron served on the USS Henrico and the USS Estes as a Petty Officer and was the Payroll Clerk which made him one of the most popular guys on the ship.

Ron worked for 40+ years in advertising; as the National Sales Manager at KFRE and KYNO radio, and as the owner of a local advertising agency, "The Ad Works". He was a creative marketer and excellent salesperson who could sell anything to anyone. He was a mentor to many throughout his career.

Ron had a giving spirit, could be generous to a fault and was very active in community service. He served on the Board of Trustees for the Bulldog Foundation for 16 years, and was on the Boards of the Salvation Army, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Fresno Hall of Fame, Radio Advertising Bureau, and the Fresno Adventist Academy. In addition, he served as the traveling Chaplain for the Fresno State Men's Football and Basketball teams.

Ron was the ultimate family man. He loved his family and his faith. He relocated the family to the Fresno area in 1968 because Fresno had a 12-grade Adventist school, and he wanted a Christian education for his children. He planned family vacations with gusto; camping trips, motor home trips, including a 6-week trip throughout the United States, trips to Bulldog sporting events and loved family time at the Shaver Lake cabin. He was actively involved in his kids' sporting endeavors as a coach and spectator and loved attending Fresno State Bulldog sporting events with his family.

The loss of Ron leaves a huge hole in our hearts, but his legacy will live on through the love and values he instilled in his family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 14th at the Sunnyside SDA Church located at 5375 N. Maroa, Fresno.
