Cagle Stancliff Marshall
Dec 27, 1935 — May 25, 2024
Fresno
Shanna Atwood Cagle Stancliff Marshall
Shanna was born on December 27, 1935, in Roosevelt, Utah. She was the youngest of five sisters and is survived by her sister Mathalyn Ballaz Cox and their younger brother, Doug Atwood. Shanna grew up in Fresno, California where she graduated from Central High School in 1953. The family are descendants of pioneers and active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shanna married Jerry Cagle in 1957. Shanna is survived by their three children, Debbie Mortimer (husband Kent), Melody Andreasen (husband Dennis) and Eddie Cagle (wife Pauli). She has eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She graduated from Fresno State University and became an elementary school teacher. She went on to be a highly skilled genealogist and a master food preserver. Shanna's skills and hobbies included singing, playing the piano, sewing, and traveling.
Shanna and Jerry returned to Fresno in 1977 after many years living in Southern California where Jerry worked for Santa Fe Railway and then managed the Santa Fe Credit Union. They started a business in Fresno, The Storage Room, for people to learn to store and prepare food for survival in hard times. They helped many people learn important skills. Shanna's husband Jerry died in 1981 from diabetes complications when she was only 45 with her young son still at home. Shanna continued the business and then sold it.
Shanna met and married Dewey Stancliff in 1982. Dewey was retired from PG&E so they enjoyed years of family and travel. They were involved helping with scouting and other church activities. Dewey died in 1998 in Fresno. Shanna then met at married Jack Marshall of Modesto, California. They lived in Ceres where they had many friends and were highly involved in the Ship Brooklyn Society until Jack's death in 2016.
Shanna moved back to Fresno to live with her son Eddie and his family in 2016. She really enjoyed being back with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her final years she was very active in genealogy and working at the LDS temple. She leaves a legacy of great family and love. Shanna passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 15th, at 3:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5025 W. Ashlan Ave., Fresno, California 93722. (Family interment earlier in the week.)
