Siroun Vanoyan was born on June 16, 1947 in Khamashlie, Syria, to Kevork and Angele Mekhitarian. Siroun was one of 8 children. At a young age, the family moved to Beirut, Lebanon.                                                      She spent the

next few years at the Birds Nest Armenian Orphanage--Trchnots Pouyn in Jbail, Lebanon. After leaving Trchnots Pouyn, Siroun became an apprentice to a couturier in Beirut.

In 1967, Siroun, along with her mother, sister Sonia and brothers Zohrab and Vahé, made the journey to join their older brothers, Johnny and Hagop, in the United States.

It was in Fresno that she met Garabed Vanoyan while taking English night classes. They were married shortly after they met, on November 23, 1969. They were married for 47 years, before Charlie passed away in 2017. They were blessed with two daughters, Grace and Ani.

Siroun's faith was unwavering. "It's God's Will" she would always say. Siroun sang in the Holy Trinity Church Choir and Hamazkayin of Fresno for over 20 years. She had the voice of an angel, a sweet soprano voice that was passed down to her granddaughter Maral.

Siroun spent her life dedicated to her family, her grandchildren and her faith.

Siroun had a very kind heart, never speaking ill of anyone. She had a bright and shining smile that lit up a room. She was a very devout Christian, attending church and Tuesday Evening Bible Study.

She loved Greek music. Her favorite artist was George Dalaras. She would play his songs on repeat and dance until she was exhausted. During one of our recent family gatherings, she danced to Greek music, forgetting any pains and enjoying the moment with her sister and brothers, neices, and nephews dancing around her!

Siroun was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She spread love and happiness everywhere she went. She will be missed so very, very much.
