Obituary

Stanley "Skeets" Shorey passed away on March 27, 2024 at his home in Fresno, California at the age of 74.  He was born on April 1,1949 to Anne Carney and Carl Shorey in New Haven, Connecticut.  He came to live in Fresno at the age of two and later attended Roosevelt High School, graduating in 1967.  He was on active duty in the Navy during the Vietnam war from 1968 to 1972 and in the Navy Reserves at Lemoore from 1972 to 1979.  He attended Fresno City College for two years. He worked as a Journeyman Sheet Metal worker for 27 years, retiring at age 52.

Stan was dedicated to serving fellow veterans and honoring those who never made it home.  He belonged to the Vietnam Veterans of America,  American Legion Post 509, and Patriot Guard Riders.  He rode his motorcycle eight times to Washington DC as part of the annual Run For the Wall event.  Riding motorcycles was a lifetime passion, he loved dogs and enjoyed league bowling.

Stan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gayla Shorey, son Erik Shorey and grandchildren Mason Shorey and Sierra Shorey.

A graveside service will be held on April 25th, 11:00 a.m. at Clovis District Memorial Cemetery.
