Steven Edward Bannister was born in Fresno, California, September 5, 1954, to Edward and Beverly. He was the oldest of four siblings. He attended Manchester and Scandinavian Elementary Schools, Sierra Junior High School and McLane High School. Steven was married twice and had two children with his first wife.

He loved basketball and the outdoors.  One of his first jobs was his favorite, driving a delivery truck that took him all over California.

Steven was preceded in death by his mom. He is survived by his two children, his dad, sister, two brothers and their families.
