Steven Lee Bird, 73, of Fresno, California, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his Family.
Steve was born on September 26, 1952, in Avenal, California, and lived most of his life in Fresno. He dedicated 35 years to Ford, where he worked as a parts man. He was respected for his work ethic, knowledge and willingness to help others.
Those who knew Steve often said there was little he couldn’t do. He enjoyed solving mechanical problems, whether with vehicles or household repairs and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His resourcefulness and determination were defining traits, and he could often be found working on projects in his garage.
Steve was a devoted husband and father who worked hard to provide for his family. He found joy in the simple things he loved most. He had a passion for flying, whether piloting a Cessna or building and flying his remote-controlled airplanes. He also had a deep appreciation for music, which brought him enjoyment throughout his life.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Debbie Bird, his children, Jennifer Perez, C.J. Bird and his wife, Aimee; his cherished grandchildren, Keira Aquino, Baylee Bird, Marlee Bird, and Jace Perez; his father Robert Bird; his sister, Robbi Baim; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Bird.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Belmont Country Club.
