Steven Lee Welsh, 58 passed away on March 21, 2025 in Fresno, California. He was bornin Selma on February 10, 1967. Steven grew up in the Selma, Kingsburg area, where he was well know and deeply loved.
Steven proudly served his country in the United States Army, from March 7, 1985 to August 1990. He completed his basic training and training in the Military Police at CO A 11th EN GOUT in McClellan, Alabama. Known for his quick reflexes and sharp skills, he was the fastest in his group at disassembling and reassembling his rifle. His 16-week MP training was in Bakersfield, California. After active duty, he continued his service in the National Guard in Reedley, California.
Prior to his military career, Steven pursed his passion for cooking. He worked as Head chef at Denny's and later at Pub n Sub. His dedication was unmatched-when he left Pub n Sub, they had to stop serving breakfast because he had been the only one capable of preparing it. His commitment earned him not just respect but also a few laughs: his boss bought him an alarm clock and eventually picked him up himself to ensure Steven made it to work. He also worked at Fatapples in Berkeley, Ca. and also worked at a cabinet-making shop during his career.
On August 29, 1990 Steven suffered a traumatic motorcycle accident which left him permanent social security disability. Steven worked hard toward overcoming and rehabbing himself over the 35 extra years God gave him. He was always happy and very thankful for all the blessings he was given.
Steven was a devoted son, brother, and was also a father, and grandfather, He is survived by his father Guy Lee Welsh; stepmother Dana Welsh; brother Ron Welsh and sister-in-law Tracee Wels; sister Annette Desgrey, and brother-in-law John Desgrey; children Bradley, Elizabeth, Jordan and Jenna. Grandchildren Lilly, Piper and Nathan. Nephews, Chris, Steven, Cody; nieces Stephanie and Janie. He was preceded in death by his mother Opal Mae McGee and his uncle Jack Welsh.
He loved riding his motorcycle and giving rides to all who asked. He loved spending time with his friends and family and loved to watch TV and movies. He had quite the collection of movies, chucky movies and Bart Simpson were his favorite. Steven also enjoyed to play on his computer online, which continued until his passing.
Steven grew up attending the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Selma and Fresno. Steven lived with warmth and generosity that touched everyone around him.
