Wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend

Our beloved mother was born Mary Susan Hermosillo, the fourth of ten children, in Hanford, California, to Refugio and Ana Hermosillo. She met and married our father, Manuel Diez, in Hanford. After some time in North Carolina with Dad while he was in the US Army, they settled in Fresno, California and raised five children: Elisa Musso, Dena Hanson, Susan (Jimmy) Daniele, Manuel Diez, and Lauren Diez (Darcy).

Mom helped raise her grandsons, James (Kristine), Matt (Katelyn), and Nathaniel Musso, and greatly enjoyed being Gigi to their children—precious Coda, Kalliope, Eleanor, Thelen, and Liam. She was also Grandma to Kate (Art) Sesate and her children, Brendan, Phillip, Makayla, and Kassidy and to Gabrielle (Jonathan) Burton and Sam (Maddy) Krikke.

Mom was an amazing person—devoted to her faith, generous, talented, adventurous, and witty. She was very involved at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in the Ladies' Guild and as a volunteer. She relished the monthly get-togethers with former members to celebrate birthdays. She loved to travel. She visited Europe many times and was able to visit holy places in Jerusalem, Fatima, Lourdes, and Medugorje, to name a few. She had a lifelong love for music and dancing—big band music, jitterbug, Mexican rancheros. She would hand money to whomever was driving to give to someone at an intersection asking for help. She bought her first sewing machine over 60 years ago and never really stopped sewing garments for her family and herself. She walked a mile a day until recently.

She is predeceased by her husband, her parents, her siblings, Andres and Antonio Hermosillo, Bertha (Raul) Ruiz, Antonio, and Conchita, and three sisters-in-law, Louise, Barbara, and Annie Hermosillo, as well as her husband's siblings, Hortensia (Juan) Canal, Eduardo (Justina) Diez, and Rosa (Evangelino) García.

In addition to her children and their families, she is survived by her beloved sister, Anita (Larry) Hartung, brothers, Refugio, Enrique, José (Barbara), Jesus (Gloria), and Antonio Hermosillo, sister-in-law, Juana Hermosillo, and many nieces and nephews.

We want to thank her dear friends, Delma Marquez, Mary Helen Clegg,  Alicia Daugherty, and Danelle Barnes for their many years of friendship and for their love and support this past month of her illness.

Our mom passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. We are grateful to Hinds Hospice for supporting us and teaching us how to make her comfortable.

We thank you, God, for our Mama and all the years you gave her.

We thank you, Mama, for always being there for us. We wish you and Dad could have gone on and on here with us. We will never forget you.

Viewing is at Farewell Funeral on 1/22/24, 5-7 PM. Rosary, 10:30 AM, and Mass, 11 AM, will be on 1/23/2024, at Our Lady of Victory, 2838 N. West, followed with burial at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
