Virgil Wells, 87, of Fresno, California, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 17, 1937, in Merced, CA, to Clyde and Margaret Wells.  He had one sister, Joy Carroll.  Virgil lived a life marked by quiet strength, dedication, and deep love for his family. He spent 32 years working as a field engineer for Santa Fe, a career that reflected his sharp mind and steady work ethic.

Virgil was married to Sharon for 34 years, and together they raised two children, Greg Wells and Valerie Bernardi, in Fresno. Later, he married Leah, and they shared 24 years together in the Bay Area. In early 2025, Virgil returned to Fresno, where he spent his final days surrounded by those who loved him most.

He was a devoted father and proud grandfather of five grandchildren. Virgil cherished time with his family, valued meaningful conversations, and found comfort in simple pleasures. His thoughtful nature, humble spirit, and enduring love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A private family gathering will be held to honor his life.
