Virginia Dianne Baker
December 23, 1943 – September 10, 2026
Virginia Dianne Baker, age 82, of Fresno, California, passed away on September 10, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Virginia grew up in San Francisco with her sister Nancy, and brother Bob. She cherished her time in the bay with her grandmother, Eva. Virginia married Loran, the love of her life at 16 years old. They built a lifetime filled with adventure centered around family.
Virginia was an avid traveler. Her love of the ocean fueled sailing adventures between Hawaii, Mexico and Santa Cruz. Maui and Santa Cruz held a special place in her heart.
Above all else, Virginia loved her family and it was the center of her world. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as Grandma, Gama, and Verge. To her great-grandchildren, Theo and Callen, she was Grandma Baker, and to Kelsey and Iris, she was Grammy. She was incredibly proud of her great-grandbabies and loved sharing their pictures and stories with anyone who would listen. The children brought her endless joy.
Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Loran Lee Baker Sr. and her son, Loran “Butch” Baker. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Perez, and Rich; her daughter-in-law, Kelly Baker, whom she loved as a daughter; her sister, Nancy; and her brother, Bob. She also leaves behind her grandchildren and their spouses and partners, whom she loved as bonus grandchildren: Nick and Danielle, Laura and Bubba, Jillian and Luc, Kyle and Jasmine, Adam and Crystal, and Haileigh; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Theo, Callen, Kelsey, and Iris, along with many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Virginia leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories and a family who will always carry her love and spirit with them. Forever in our hearts, always by the sea.
