Virginia "Dollie" Allegro Sorensen, age 93, a lifelong resident of Fresno, passed away on October 5, 2024. She was born on October 11, 1930, to Christina and Mariano Allegro, Italian immigrants who had settled in Fresno. Following high school, she met the love of her life, Douglas Sorensen, and was married on October 21, 1950. They welcomed three children into their family, Shelley, Kristie, and Ricke.

Virginia was a homemaker, and her children became the focus of her time. She enjoyed volunteering in their school and served as Room Parent, Scout Leader, and Little League Team Mom. Later in life, she supported her grandchildren's activities. Her hobbies included crocheting, tole painting, and of course, watching any sports event. She was best known for her incredible talent of Italian cooking which she enjoyed with her three sisters.

Life for Virginia was centered around the family and close friends she loved so much. Holidays and get-togethers were her favorite times. Italian to the core, incredible Italian food was the staple of every family event along with a lively poker game, paving the way to a fun time for all. She always looked forward to these treasured family gatherings.

Virginia leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family. She was a warm-hearted person with a great sense of humor. Virginia never minced words when expressing her opinion, but her love was unconditional and everlasting. Her faith in the Lord was unwavering.

Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Douglas Sorensen; son, Rick Sorensen; granddaughter, Madison Sorensen; brother, Tony Allegro; sisters, Rose Puma, Evelyn Papagni, and Betty Ann Jura.

She is survived by her cherished daughters, Kristie and Shelley; son-in law, Larry; beloved grandchildren, Kasey, Brandon, Kelly, Lindsey, and Ryan; treasured great-grandchildren, Avery, Brooklyn, Britton, Emery, and Fawn; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their gratitude for the excellent and compassionate care Virginia received from the staff at Bella Care Home and Saint Agnes Hospital.
