Kelly Clark Porterfield was born to Richard and Judy Porterfield in Buena Park, California, on September 25, 1967. Kelly passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2019 at the age of 51 while driving his motorcycle in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Kelly was raised in Brea, California. Kelly attended Brea Olinda high school. Kelly served a two year church mission in Chicago, Illinois. He loved his mission. He loved teaching and serving the people in the Chicago area. Soon after returning home he met Melissa Read at a church dance in the City of Orange. They were married and sealed on November 4, 1989 in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They were married for almost 30 years.

Kelly worked in the school system for most of his married life. He dedicated his career to making a safe learning environment for children. The children's welfare was his inspiration. Kelly greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, working hard and playing hard. By hard work and example he taught his children how to be good hardworking people while finding joy in all they do.

He is survived by his wife, his 4 children, 3 grandchildren, his mother, his 3 brothers and 2 sisters, and many dear nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and community.
